About these terms

These terms govern use of the MoveAMotor vehicle transport marketplace by customers and transporters in the United Kingdom. By creating an account, requesting or providing a quote, or booking through MoveAMotor, you agree to these terms.

MoveAMotor provides an online marketplace that allows customers seeking vehicle transportation to connect with independent vehicle transport businesses and drivers. The transport contract is formed between the customer and the transporter whose quote is accepted.

MoveAMotor provides the marketplace through which customers and independent transporters arrange transport. The transporter supplies and is responsible for the transport service. MoveAMotor does not itself take custody of the vehicle or insure it merely because the booking is made through the platform.

Customers must provide accurate collection, delivery and vehicle information, including whether a vehicle is roadworthy or a non-runner and any condition that may affect loading or transport. Customers must ensure lawful access to the vehicle and collection/delivery locations and must not request transport of stolen, unlawfully held or prohibited property.

Transporters operate as independent businesses and are responsible for maintaining all licences, registrations, permissions and insurance required for the services they provide. Transporters must provide accurate business and insurance information, use suitable and roadworthy transport equipment and comply with applicable road transport and safety law.

The transporter is responsible for performing the agreed transport service with reasonable care and skill and using suitable vehicles, equipment and personnel.

The transporter remains responsible for the acts and omissions of its employees, drivers, agents and subcontractors when performing the booking. Using another person or business does not remove the transporter’s obligations to the customer.

The transporter must provide the transport method agreed in the booking. An enclosed-transport booking must not be performed using open transport or driven delivery without the customer’s express agreement to a recorded booking change.

Transporter quotes should clearly represent the price and service offered. A booking is created when a customer accepts a quote through MoveAMotor. Any agreed collection-date changes should be recorded through the platform. Neither party should deliberately circumvent MoveAMotor to avoid marketplace charges on work introduced through MoveAMotor.

MoveAMotor charges a 5-10% commission on the agreed transport price for bookings made through the marketplace. The applicable fee will be shown as part of the booking/payment information. The commission rate applied to a booking will be shown at checkout and is calculated against the agreed vehicle transport charge, excluding any separately identified refund or adjustment. Transporters agree that the applicable commission may be deducted or accounted for through the MoveAMotor payment process.

Payments made through MoveAMotor must follow the payment process displayed for the booking. Users must not misuse payment services, initiate fraudulent transactions or attempt to avoid legitimate marketplace charges. Refunds, payment holds and transporter payouts may be delayed where reasonably necessary to investigate cancellations, disputes, suspected fraud or delivery issues.

Customers may cancel eligible transport requests and transporters may cancel eligible deliveries using the controls provided by MoveAMotor. Cancellation rights, refunds and any sums payable will depend on the stage of the booking, work already performed and applicable consumer law. A transporter should notify the customer promptly if unable to complete an accepted delivery.

The transporter’s responsibility for the customer’s vehicle begins when it takes possession or control of the vehicle at collection, including loading, and continues during transport, any agreed driving, temporary storage and unloading, until the vehicle and its keys are handed over to the customer or their authorised recipient.

The transporter must inspect the vehicle at collection and delivery and record its visible condition, including existing damage, using dated photographs and condition reports where reasonably practicable. The transporter must promptly notify the customer of any incident, loss or damage and preserve relevant evidence.

Customers should remove valuables and personal possessions unless expressly agreed with the transporter.

Customers should report suspected damage as soon as reasonably practicable. Signing a delivery record, confirming delivery or releasing payment does not, by itself, waive a valid damage claim or statutory rights, including where damage was not reasonably apparent at handover.

The transporter must maintain insurance appropriate to the service, transport method and vehicles it accepts, including appropriate cover for customer vehicles while in its custody or control. Before accepting a booking, the transporter must check that the vehicle’s value and the proposed activities fall within its cover.

The transporter must promptly notify its insurer of claims where required and cooperate with their investigation. An insurance excess, exclusion, insufficient cover or an insurer’s refusal to pay does not reduce any liability the transporter otherwise has to the customer.

MoveAMotor may request business, identity, insurance or other verification documents from transporters and may approve, reject, suspend or re-check verification. Verification is intended to support marketplace trust but does not replace a customer's own assessment of a transporter or guarantee future performance, insurance coverage or regulatory compliance.

Reviews and platform communications must be genuine, lawful and relevant. Users must not post threatening, abusive, discriminatory, fraudulent or knowingly false material. MoveAMotor may moderate or remove content where reasonably necessary to protect users or the marketplace.

MoveAMotor may restrict, suspend or remove an account where there is suspected fraud, unsafe conduct, serious or repeated breach of these terms, invalid verification, non-payment of applicable charges, misuse of the platform or a reasonable need to protect users. Relevant booking, payment and audit records may be retained where legally or operationally necessary.

Customers and transporters should first try to resolve service issues using the booking records and evidence available through MoveAMotor.

MoveAMotor may assist with communications, evidence and disputes. This assistance does not make MoveAMotor the carrier or replace either party’s legal rights.

The transporter is liable for loss of or damage to the vehicle, its keys and any accessories accepted for transport to the extent caused by the transporter’s negligence, breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. This includes damage arising from improper loading, securing, handling, driving, storage or unloading, and theft resulting from inadequate security.

The transporter is not responsible for pre-existing damage or an inherent mechanical defect merely because it becomes apparent during transport. This does not exclude responsibility where the transporter causes or worsens the damage or defect.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits MoveAMotor’s responsibility for its own acts or omissions where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these terms removes statutory rights that a consumer cannot lawfully waive. Where consumer protection law gives a customer additional cancellation, refund or service rights, those rights continue to apply.

MoveAMotor may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will apply from the date stated in the updated terms and, where required, users will be given appropriate notice.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the United Kingdom jurisdiction in which the relevant user is based, subject to any mandatory consumer rights concerning jurisdiction and applicable law.

Important: These marketplace terms are a practical starting point for MoveAMotor and should be reviewed by a UK solicitor before the service accepts live customer payments or commercial bookings.
